Unisa Courses via Distance Learning
Higher education and training is possible through home study – also known as distance learning. The types of courses offered by Unisa include Higher Certificates, Advanced Certificates, Diplomas and Advanced Diplomas, Degree level courses such as Btech, BA, BComm, BEd and BSc, and the postgraduate Honours and Masters level degrees.
These courses are offered by the respective faculties, such as agriculture, education, economics, human sciences, law, and sciences, and each have their own application process.
There are various courses that you can study at colleges and universities across the country. These courses focus on either specific industries or sectors, or a collection thereof.
Unisa offers degree courses you can study. If you do not have Matric or want to improve your marks or upskill yourself with accredited courses before going to Unisa, you can apply at Matric College. A Senior Certificate (Amended) is awarded to adult learners who have passed their Adult Matric exams. When being awarded a Senior Certificate (Amended) it is worth remembering that the marks that are on the certificate are only your exam results. No class tests or assignments that you have completed will count towards your results.
The level of the qualifications available from different institutions will range from basic certificates, diplomas and higher diplomas, to degrees and postgraduate programmes. The structure of the various courses may take the form of written exams, practical exams, portfolios, theses or a mixture of these.
An FET college usually offers short courses that are subject-specific, as well as basic and advanced certificate courses and diploma courses. Many of these courses are accredited with particular institutions in order to provide students with industry-specific skills and knowledge that is recognised by employers and that is on a par with international standards.
Some of these study fields may include Accounting, Management, Business, Childcare, Secretarial, Computer Studies, Creative Studies, Beauty Therapy and Events Management.
