The DHET registration process

In order for your college to be recognised as a legitimate learning provider in South Africa, it needs to be registered with the Department of Higher Education and Training (DHET), and must conform to the FET Colleges Act, 2006 (Act 16 of 2006).

Why must I register my college?

• So that you can offer level 2-4 NQF (National Qualifications Framework) courses.
• So that employers will recognise the courses that you offer.
• Students are a lot more likely to choose a registered college.

How do I register?

• Download the registration form from the DHET website.
• Send the completed form and required documents to the DHET.
• Pay the R500 non-refundable admin fee by cash, postal order or cheque.
• Wait up to 6 months for the process to be completed.

Remember to plan and apply well in advance, because of the 6 month processing period.
